RE: Error on Page

I am on theRV.Net portal. The problem seems to have cleared up now. I did notice that while it was occurring the adds in the pages were not displaying.

Getting an "error on page" message with every opening of a new page. What is causing it?

RE: What to Purchase??? Need Advice!

One thing I haven't seen addressed is the cost of maintaining a gasser versus a DP. Can someone who has owned both shed some experienced light on the differences?

RE: Did he leave his toad behind?

Maybe it was a rental that the rental company was to pick up?

RE: If you went without an RV

We did pretty much the same as BB_TX in late June, 2004. However, we stayed at the Back Country Lodge in Kantishna at the end of the road in Denali NP. We spent 3 nights in Fairbanks; then took the train to Denali NP just ahead of the fires. We spent 1 night outside the park, 5 nights at the Back Country Lodge, and 1 more night outside the park before taking the train on to Anchorage where we spent 2 nights. The nights spent outside Denali NP were planned just in case we encountered delays to ensure we did not miss connections like the bus to the lodge or the train to Anchorage. From Anchorage we took a drive to Seward for a 1/2 day cruise on Resurection Bay. The 95 mile bus ride in the park takes about 6 hours; but it was outstanding. The bus drivers are very knowledgable and conduct a running narative. The bus stops for viewing almost anytime someone on the bus spots an animal, or when another bus has stopped for something interesting. If you want more information on our itinerary PM me and I will try and accommodate you.

RE: KOA in De Forest Wisconsin

We have stayed there several times over the years when going between Mo and Mn or the Mi UP. We like it for an overnight stop. There is a Culvers within walking distance.

RE: Shakedown cruise completed: lessons learned

Something to consider when a modern site (hookups) is not available but a primitive site is, try dry camping (no hookups) for the weekend. There are a lot of exceptional campgrounds accross the USA and Canada that do not offer hookups and if you never try dry camping, you will miss those experiences.

RE: Kansas City, Mo to Orlando, Fl

If you are planning on connecting with I-64 in St. Louis, stay on I-70 all the way to the Mississippi river. I-64 (hwy 40/61 at Wentzville) is closed for reconstruction between I-270 and I-170.

RE: 3 more newbie questions.

Besides the reasons for the pump running listed by JFG, my pump also runs if it is turned on while filling the fresh water tank.

RE: PSA Test Help

An annual DRE in addition to the PSA test is a necessity. I had a PSA of .7 - .9 over three years. However in my annual physical, the doctor found a nodule he was concerned about. The urologist also found the nodule. one of the ten samples from the biopsy showed cancer. Had the prostate removed surgically in May 2001 at age 54. THe cancer was on the verge of breaking out of the prostate. PSA's have been 0 since then. My doctor is convinced if he had not done the DRE, I would have been a lot worse off. Do not rely on the PSA alone.

RE: What did I get myself into? I'M DONE!!!

I went through the same thing with my 1985 Jamboree before it was totaled in a headon accident. I ordered its replacement without a window in the cab-over bunk.

RE: Remco Drive Shaft Disconnect - Your Experiences?

I had REMCO disconnects on my 94 Chevy S-10 and my 2000 GMC Sonoma which covered a 10 year period. I now have a 2006 GMC 4WD Canyon which does not require any conversion. The only issue I had with the disconnect was if you do not keep the connection parts clean of road debris like sand etc. more effort is required to properly seat them and if they are not completely seated together, they can separate while driving.

RE: Springfield Illinois

We have stayed at Double J a couple of times and I honestly can say I never noticed the highway noise.

RE: Retirees - Decision to Retire

I am sorry but I have to throw this out there. Talking in terms of percentages of working income is misleading. I could survive a lot better on 25% of $250,000 than 25% of $75,000. Those that quote percentages should also give a ballpark baseline for the calculation.

RE: TAKE NOTE!! Jackson/Snake River KOA- Wyoming

I have had both good and bad experiences staying at KOA's enroute to our vacation destinations over the 32 years we have been RVing. Have also had good and bad experiences at other private campgrounds that we picked out of one of the Campground directories. In general though, the KOA's have been more consistent in meeting our limited expectations for an overnight stay than the other private campgrounds.

RE: Looking for Comments on Chevrolet Colorado for Dinghy.

I also tow a '06 4WD Canyon crewcab PU. It currently has 46K driving miles on the odometer. It has been great so far.

RE: St Louis Flooding

If you are concerned about the Casino Queen being flooded, you might want to consider stopping somewhere west of St Louis. A couple of parks that come to mind are Pin Oak Creek RV Park and Eureka KOA both accessible from I44.

RE: wood boreing bees

I kinda ignored the bees for a while that were boring into the cedar rails of my front porch. That is until the woodpeckers started tearing off huge sections of the wood to get at the bees and their larvae. Now I have to make repairs in addition to plugging the holes after killing them.

RE: leveling up

Rear wheels never, front wheels not a good idea. Better to drive up on blocks, to raise the applicable end close to level, then level. May also need blocks under the jacks.
